Parents Have To Know

It's a parents job to know what their child is doing. Today, my History teacher talked about the anniversary of the Colombine High School Shooting. He said that the parents of Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold should have known what they were up to.
Many suspected what they were up to but no one said a single word. That's why when my History teacher talked about this I was thinking, "Who the heck are these guys parents?". I don't want to be mean or anything but I think the parents are partially responsible for the shooting that happened.
I mean, c'mon, what were the parents doing? Were they lazing off and didn't give a crap about the lives that their OWN children took? Did they not care what their child was doing? I surely can't understand since my mom and dad have always been strict with me.
My mom used to go through my backpack when I was in Elementary school. If she found something that she knew wasn't mine, she would toss it. I'd later have to explain to my friend's that my mom threw away their pencil sharpener or eraser.
Parents are supposed to know every single little detail that happens in their child's lives. I don't mean that they have to breathe down their necks. That's just plain creepy. What I mean is that a parent has to always ask questions and I know a parents last wish is to seem uncool but knowing what's going on in a kids life is not uncool.
So, the topic about the anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting seriously got me thinking about what the heck goes on in a parent's mind? And surely, they have to have a class on parenting because obviously the parents of Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold failed that class. (No offense)!!!
